I've been noticing some questions on Tonner's new mainline release about several of the new dolls' head sculpts. Haddy Madigan, for example, claims to use the Liu Liu head sculpt. I've included a comparison here. It seems that these two sculpts are quite different. I wonder if Haddy might not actually be a different sculpt--perhaps Duchess or resized Daphne? I can't tell which is closest--but both are closer than Liu Liu!
Lori mentioned in a comment that the sculpt I have above, All Star Liu Liu, isn't called Liu Liu according to Tonner's website. She's called Asian 1. I hadn't noticed that before--thanks for the info! In looking into all three Liu Liu dolls released so far, the only one using the actual Liu Liu head sculpt is Party Print Liu Liu. I would have assumed this was because Tonner hadn't given a name for the sculpt when it was first being used--I think this happened to Gina (the sculpt used for Cami & Jon's friend as well as the latest Theatre de la Mode releases (she's called New Fashion Head Sculpt and Fashion #5-1 in the TDLM releases).
Here's a comparison between all the dolls named Liu Liu, released so far, for your own reference. Do you see a difference? When compared to Party Print, Haddy does look a little more like she could use Liu Liu's face sculpt. What a difference paint makes!
Then, there's the question of Bianca Lapin. Lapin, by the way, is a French word for rabbit, quite clever, I have to admit. (So Bianca--white--and Lapin--rabbit!) On Tonner's site, it says she uses the Duchess head sculpt. Here she is, compared to the Peacock (Duchess) and Emma Frost (Breathless). She looks a little more like Breathless to me. What do you think? Do you have other suggestions? Is it just the lighting?
